Hi.   My name is Ron Brouchard, a New York Gym owner and Personal Trainer.  And I am furious about what New York Gym and Health Club owners are doing to their members.  I hate seeing people get sucked in by these deceitful gyms and fitness centers, not knowing what they are getting themselves into.

Here are some of the Dirty Truths that New York Gyms, Health Clubs, and Fitness Centers don't want you to know...

 



New York Gym Dirty Truth #1 - The Gyms Don't Care About You:  All that the New York Gyms care about is that you sign up, paying some heavy initiation fee, and then a monthly re-ocurring fee they charge your credit card on.  One you are all signed up and they can just automatically charge your credit card on a regular monthly basis, whether you use the gym or not, they forget about you and move on the next prospect.  They don't care if you come to the gym or not, or ever get in shape.  Actually, they don't want you to come to the gym.  If every single member came to the gym, the fire marshall would shut down the gym due to being over crowded.

New York Gym Dirty Truth #2 - You BETTER Read the Fine Print:  Many of these New York Gyms and Fitness Centers hide some very important information in the contracts.  For example, the cancellation policy.  Most of these gyms and health clubs require that if you cancel your membership, that you give them a written 30 day notice of cancellation, of which they will charge you a penalty fee if you cancel your membership early.  I had a friend who belonged to one of these New York Gyms and signed their contract.  He had to move out of New York, so he needed to cancel his membership.  So he followed the gym's cancellation policy.  He was charge two more times before his membership was cancelled and he was charged an additional $197 to cancel his contract early.  That's wrong!  So, when you are looking to join a gym or health club in New York, make sure you read the fine print.

New York Gym Dirty Truth #3 - The Same People Look The Same:  One of the biggest problems with these New York Gyms and Fitness Centers is that the members EXACTLY the same as they did a year ago.  Why?  Because they are not doing what is TRULY effective to burn fat, tone muscle and get into great shape.  And they gym does not care, nor has a clue as to how to help you get into great shape.  They are more concerned about getting more and more members to join, so they can charge them repeatedly, even if they don't show up.  And trust me, they aren't going to call you if you don't show up.

New York Gym Dirty Truth #4 - They DON'T Have a Solid Nutritional Program:  I will be very honest with you.  If you ever want to get into super lean shape, you are going to have to eat right.  And nutrition is about 80% of the fitness formula.  Unfortunately, most of these gyms and health clubs in New York don't have a certifed nutritonist on staff to help you get into great shape.  Usually, they have some silly nutritional software that does't do a damn thing to help you get into great shape.

New York Gym Dirty Truth #5 - They Have the WORST Personal Trainers:  Most of the big chain, corporate gyms in New York have the worst personal trainers.  They are not nationally certified through any credible organizations.  They are usually certified through some bogus gym certifcation program that only takes 2 to 5 days.  New York 24 Hour Fitness is synonomous for this. 

Don't get me wrong, I am big proponent of personal training.  A qualified personal trainer can really help you tremendously lose fat, tone up, and get into great shape fast.  But, you need a credible personal trainer who has actual experience and knowledge.
